Years ago I used to do a lot of journaling online because I had to have someplace to vent my thoughts of the day. However with the modern technology comes the ability to search and employers were never happy with my thoughts when they found my blog. I did nothing to concern the employers with my thoughts but as a result it was searched and I was informed I was no longer allowed to blog about anything outside of my own random thoughts. No one wants a bad opinion and no one wants to have anything that can be misinterpreted. In today's society there is no shame in what a person says anymore unless you are in entertainment then you are definitely guilty before you are proven innocent.
I wonder what has happened to just pure logic in this world. When was everyone guilty and no one was guilty at the same time. It seems it is ok for politicians to be guilty but no one else in any other industry can be guilty. I can tell you corporate the harassment and bullying is rampant but try to prove that in a form of a court it is he said/she said. Corporate have their shields for using proper channels in HR complaints, coaching, discussion, point systems etc.... They get away with the harassment and bullying. But have this happen in an industry such as entertainment - people are fired on the spot. Have this happen in a governmental entity they get away with it by paying off or using scapegoats. The double/triple standards of society is just amazing as we progress into 2019.
I was raised by a 1950s mother and father in a very conservative sheltered home. I was not able to really see society in all its glory growing up. I was only kept in a social network with church and what my parents wanted me to see. It was mind blowing when I had to go out into the world and survive. Having a job and being harassed/bullied in a work environment was just the norm. I was in a very male intensive environment so the constant "make me some coffee, go get my laundry, order me some food...thanks sweetheart" was a normal day. I worked where smoking was allowed so it was offices filled with smoke, being belittled for being a girl and taking orders along with having to work my way through the doors to get raises etc. So when there is a call for justice for women, remember us women who were harassed, demeaned and just overall treated poorly in the 70s, 80s and now it is so different. Then it was just do your job.
Ok enough venting and ranting about the conditions what we dealt with and how it has changed. I am happy for the future generations that will no longer have to deal with what was dealt with in the past but additionally want to recognize that they are not "victims" but people who now employer change.
Anyway today's thoughts ....
